Tashi Lhunpo Monastery

TASHI LHUNPO MONASTERY ADMISSIONS

Admission to the monastery is granted to all irrespective of race or nationality,  provided all the requirements are in place.  Once admitted, the child’s every need is taken care of by the monastery – totally free –  such as food, accommodation and education, health care etc.  The admission procedure is two pronged: First , those who wish to be admitted to the monastery as monks must be accepted by a senior monk in the monastery as their personal guide and teacher. Then each student,  along with his personal guide-cum-teacher (Shakgyen) must approach the Abbot for his approval. Once the approval is given, the naming, hair-cutting and oath taking ceremonies follows. Once the final process with the Abbot is done, the novice becomes a Tashi Lhunpo monk.
