The monastic school is going through a positive transformation on several fronts. One key element is to recruit qualified and trained teachers for the school. By the end of this academic year (end of April, 2020), we will have a team of qualified and trained teachers for the first time! The other element is to update the curriculum and make it relevant and meaningful. And finally to create a learning environment and pedagogy in the school in which the monk students will love coming to the school and flower.
Recruiting qualified teachers means providing them with pay and facilities commensurate with their qualifications. This proposed Staff Quarter Project is to provide living quarters for the staff near the monastery so that they can dedicate fully to the education of our monk students. A number of the teachers and staff we recruit do not have a place to stay and renting is costly. Without providing staff quarters there is no way that they can work for the monastery. Therefore, the need to realize this project at the earliest possible date is crucial. The project requirements are as under:
The primary objective of the school is to provide basic modern education along with the monastic curriculum. Today the school is up to middle school level from class I to VIII. It is now home to 160 monastic students and a staff of 14 teachers who are instrumental in laying a sound basic academic foundation for the monk students.
But the maintenance expenses and cost of running the school is taking a toll on the monastery exchequer. Today, there is a need to raise funding for the maintenance expenses and for the various educational activities so that we have a steady funding for the school without having to worry whether to continue or cancel an activity due to lack of funding for the same. Given this situation, we have included in this brochure, the proposed SCHOOL EDUCATION PROJECT to raise funding for the maintenance and educational programs.
